Vigilant Video's CamSmartz analytics engine is a proven technology to power MangoDSP's appliances, which utilize the Texas Instruments DM642 Digital Signal Processor (DSP.) CamSmartz enables the DSP appliances to interpret video streams from CCTV cameras in ways similar to human security personnel. The 2.0 version release of CamSmartz includes ease of use and compatibility features so that simply connecting analog video lines in one side of the smart box will allow users to get a broad variety of value-added outputs to existing DVRs, NVRs and enterprise level command and control system databases. The value-added outputs include analog video output overlay with object tracking and user-defined security zones, IP video streaming to the CamSmartz command center and XML-based object tracking and alarm packets via the CamSmartz Remote API.
Clients and integration partners have found that the new capabilities of CamSmartz software provide additional information regarding potential threats and human activities captured on video. "From the start, MDI's experience with the CamSmartz DSP-based smart appliance has been very satisfying. We have been exposed to many video analytics technologies and CamSmartz was by far the easiest to setup and configure," said Rob Schorr, Vice President of Sales, MDI Security Systems. "Within a matter of hours, the CamSmartz real-time event and GIS-tracking data with annotated video output was integrated into MDI's SAFENET command and control infrastructure using the CamSmartz API. The ability to view data extracted from video on a Google Earth satellite map in a sort of bird's eye view really excites people and makes clear the value of video analytics."
Vigilant Video plans to accelerate introduction of leading video analytics technologies. Chris Theet, Vigilant Video VP of Engineering, stated, "We are very pleased with the performance and client acceptance of CamSmartz V2.0. This is just the beginning of an exciting roadmap for us. We will soon be announcing release of even more advanced smart camera technologies which allow analysis of moving video backgrounds to provide value-added applications such as single camera PTZ automated object tracking. People's desire to turn video streams into data streams is increasing very fast and our challenge is to keep up with end user's dreams."
