TNTmips Integrates Geotagged Photos into Geospatial Analysis

December 04, 2007 -- MicroImages has released extensive, integrated support for the creation, storage, and management of geotagged photos in its TNT product line. Geotags collected by the camera for locations can be imported and stored with the photos. If the photos are not taken with geotags, their locations can be interpolated from the separate, concurrent GPS logs. If no GPS logs are available, the locations can be added by plotting the photos on available orthophotos or using Google Earth and importing the KML file. Standard EXIF files can be read, interpolated, or created as needed in these geotag operations for use in other products including KML or KMZ for Google Earth and Google Maps.

Photos are stored as image fields (BLOBs) in database tables along with locations and descriptive parameters. The photo locations can be converted into any coordinate reference system and datum. They can be selected by query and other means and added in their correct location into any 2D or 3D view of geospatial materials at any relative or fixed scale. Photos can pop-in as DataTips when the cursor is over the corresponding position in the view. DataTips can show the photo and text and graphics from the database. Photo positions can be converted to vector point locations in any coordinate reference system and exported to other formats.
