March 17, 2008 - Indji Watch, the world’s first online hazard monitoring system, as been announced as the winner of the online category at the Western Australian Information Technology and Telecommunications Awards (WAITTA).

Indji Watch uses an online browser to display a single view of hazard and risk data against the physical location of assets in real-time, providing up to-the-minute notifications that enable users to reduce or avoid damage to property, injury or loss of life.

Indji Watch began with the EMDP demonstrator project in 2004, funded by the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRC SI). Based on the learning from the EMPD the product was then developed by iintegrate Systems, a research and development subsidiary of geospatial consultancy, NGIS Australia. The Australian Government also supported the development of Indji Watch technology in 2006 with a Commercial Ready Grant.

iintegrate Systems CEO, Adam Hender, accepted the award on behalf of the Indji Watch team, saying that the awards will help take the product to the next level.

“To have Indji Watch recognised as the leading online product by industry peers is a big accomplishment. I'm really proud that the product has been formally recognised as a winner in such a competitive category at WAITTA.”

The Online category at the WAITTA recognises excellence in the use of IT&T to provide information and services, with a focus on customer interface, ease-of-use, user acceptance and innovation. The awards have been conducted annually since 1991 by the WA Branch of the Australian Computer Society Inc.

Indji Watch already warns potential bushfire damage to electricity network transmission infrastructure and tracks the path of fire using live feeds from satellites for assets across Australia.
