Aerodata delivers first 2.5cm GSD orthophoto mosaic

June 27, 2008 -- Today Aerodata International Surveys marks another milestone in the ever-evolving industry of aerial surveying: the delivery of an orthophoto mosaic with 2.5cm GSD (ground sampling distance) or 1 inch.

The area, a municipality in the Netherlands, was captured with one of Aerodata’s 3 Vexcel Ultracams and consisted of around 400 images.
It has gone through aerial triangulation, DTM production and orthophoto mosaic production.

This level of detail (roughly the size of a 2 Euro coin ) is new to the market, but certainly will gain in popularity very quickly amongst government officials and the general public.

A major side benefit is the fact that projects of this type are flown below restriction height in the major part of TMA's (Terminal Control Area) around major international airports. This enables to execute photo missions which become virtually impossible due to air traffic congestion. For instance: the present sample was taken only a few kilometers in front of a landing runway of Schiphol airport in The Netherlands.
