Virtutech® to Participate in DesignCon 2009 Panels on Multicore/Virtualization

SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—January 29, 2009— Virtutech, Inc. the leading provider of virtualized system development (VSD) solutions, today announced that its principal technology specialist Ross Dickson will take part in panel discussions at DesignCon at the Santa Clara Conventions Center in Santa Clara, CA: “Multicore and Virtualization Key Enablers for Next-Generation Network Architecture,” from 1:30 to 4:30 PM PT, on Monday, February 2, at DesignCon 2009, and “Power Architecture Ecosystem Solution Offerings,” from 10:45 a.m. – 11:00 AM PDT, on Thursday, February 5.

WHAT: A Power Architecture tutorial session TF-MP5, “Multicore and Virtualization Key Enablers for Next-Generation Network Architecture,” with panelist Ross Dickson, principal technology specialist, Virtutech Inc., and representatives from Freescale Semiconductor, IBM and Wind River.

TIME: 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. PDT

DATE: Monday, February 2, 2009

LOCATION: DesignCon 2009, Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.

In this panel, Dickson will join other experts to explore the needs of multicore enablement at different system stages from instruction set architecture (ISA) to compilers, OS, debugging, simulation and IPs. The session will link with the technical initiatives undertaken by the Power.org technical committee and capture proposed items in advancing multicore/virtualization based on power architecture. The DesignCon panel will discuss the need for multicore in response to future requirements of high performance and in support of enabling next-generation class of applications and services with rich multimedia content.

WHAT: “Power Architecture Ecosystem Solution Offerings,” panelist Ross Dickson, principal technology specialist, Virtutech Inc., will present on “Using System Simulation for Multi-core Debug,” with representatives from Synopsys, Cadence, Freescale Semiconductor, Wind River, GreenHills, IP Extreme and Code Sourcery.

TIME: 10:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. PDT

DATE: Thursday, February 5, 2009

LOCATION: DesignCon 2009, Room #212. Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.

In this presentation, Dickson will discuss the new range of development and debug challenges embedded software developers face when shifting to multi-core based systems. This presentation will review the most common forms of these new challenges and show how a Virtutech Simics Virtualized System Development environment can simplify the process. Dickson will also discuss the best practices in multi-core software development.

The Virtutech Simics Hybrid Simulation capability, which leverages the proven Simics® simulator platform, has been named a finalist in the System Modeling and Simulation Tools category of this year’s DesignVision Awards. The Virtutech hybrid simulation approach enables engineers to analyze, debug, profile and execute their applications in a fast, TLM-based, functionally accurate model and then switch to the cycle-accurate model when they want to perform precise performance analysis on critical sections of their application. In addition, by incorporating the golden model from a semiconductor vendor such as Freescale, developers have the benefit of using an accurate timing model provided by the source of the SoC instead of a less valid one developed by a third party. Winners of the DesignVision Awards will be announced at 11:50 am PDT on Tuesday, February 3, as part of Design Con 2009, in the main theater at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Virtutech also will be hosting demonstrations of its Simics virtual platform and its hybrid simulation capabilities at the Power.org Booth #753 and EVE-USA Booth #116.

At the EVE booth #116, Virtutech Simics will be demonstrating hardware and software validation of PCI-Express devices. Virtutech and EVE have partnered to integrate Simics and EVE’s ZeBu in a virtualized system development (VSD) platform. ZeBu emulators run in a transaction based virtual platform are many orders of magnitude faster than software RTL simulation.

About Virtutech

Virtutech, Inc. is the leader in product development process improvement through virtualized system development (VSD). Virtutech Simics allows for a revolutionary change in the product development process at a full system level rather than a component level and is the only commercial solution that delivers the four most important criteria for successful deployment of hardware virtualization in the electronics equipment development process: speed, scalability, model availability, and control. Simics customers report reduced time to market, better project risk management, lower capital expenditure, product development cost and maintenance as well as increased quality and individual productivity. Virtutech serves the needs of the world’s leading OEMs in the high-performance computing, aerospace and defense, telecommunications, networking industries and semiconductors. Customers include Cisco, Ericsson, Freescale Semiconductor, GE Avionics, Honeywell, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Nortel, Northrop Grumman, MontaVista and Wind River. Virtutech is an active participant in organizations to drive adoption of VSD such as ARM Connected Community, Eclipse.org, IBM PartnerWorld, Power.org, OSCI and Spirit Consortium.
