SIGGIS integrates Cycloramas with Esri’s ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo and ArcReader

February 8th 2011 - SIGGIS is proud to announce the release of the second generation of its Cyclo mapping tools. This toolkit allows you to use the full potential of Cycloramas within ArcGIS or stand alone, thanks to ArcReader. Cycloramas are 360 degree panorama photos taken at street-level and are created by CycloMedia Technology BV.

In order to integrate Cycloramas in ArcGIS, SIGGIS used the GlobeSpotter API from CycloMedia Technology BV. GlobeSpotter allows rapid and stable access to the panorama photos. You can measure heights and distances, and make complete asset inventories of the public domain in x- y-z coordinates. These inventories can be stored directly in a standardized Access databank or in your own Esri Geodatabase (for which an API has recently been published). From within ArcGIS, you can now also display your GIS data, such as utility network or development plans, with the panorama photos. This will provide an accurate and natural perspective on your data.

Accuracy

Flemish water distributing companies have carried out research on the accuracy of measurement via Cyclo mapping tools. They confirm that, taking into account some basic principles, the accuracy reached is at least 10 centimetres. Therefore this toolkit is ideal for applications such as measuring tree heights and frontage or for making an inventory of parking spaces and public parks.
