ArcGIS API for iOS lets you build and deploy mobile geographic information system (GIS) applications for iOS devices such as Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. To familiarize you with the API, Esri will host the free, live training seminar Introduction to ArcGIS API for iOS on April 28, 2011.

The ArcGIS for iOS application, available from the App Store, adds mapping functionality to iOS devices. With ArcGIS API for iOS, which can be downloaded for free from the ArcGIS Resource Center, you can quickly build custom applications that let users visualize maps and graphics, collect and edit data, query data, and perform analyses.

During this seminar, attendees will learn

  • The functionality of ArcGIS API for iOS such as data visualization and analysis
  • The requirements for developing iOS applications
  • Options for deploying applications to iOS devices
  • How to build your first iOS application that integrates GPS with querying and routing capabilities

Developers who want to familiarize themselves with how to create applications that integrate GIS functionality with mobile iOS devices are encouraged to attend this free seminar. A basic understanding of ArcGIS Server services and functionality is helpful but not required. Watching the recorded seminar Introduction to ArcGIS for iOS before watching this seminar may also be useful.

A broadband Internet connection and an Esri Global Account are needed to watch the live training seminar. Creating an Esri Global Account is easy and free: visit esri.com/lts, click Login, and register your name and address.
