Utilities and Government Go “Digital” at Bentley Year in Infrastructure 2017

The Bentley Year in Infrastructure conference held in Singapore October 8-12, kicked off with a Media Day on Monday, October 8th.  Among the forums that were offered was one on Utilities and Government, which showcased the company’s commitment to geospatial technologies that are inherent in all of their utility and government applications.

Esri Web Maps Provide Forecasting for NOAA’s National Water Model

About two weeks ago, Esri launched a collection of web maps that display NOAA forecast streamflow data for the continental U.S. NOAA’s recently released National Water Model. Data from the Model combined with the National Hydrography Dataset and fed by NOAA’s National Weather Service data, forecasts the flow of water along the 2.7 million stream segments in the continental U.S. in ArcGIS Online.

CoreLogic releases new 2013 CoreLogic Wildfire Hazard Risk Report

Living in the American Southwest, where wildfires during the summer months are a constant threat, we are very grateful for the type of research that CoreLogic does with its risk reports. Not only does the company provide data, services and analytics on wildfires, they also provide information on flooding, which is the predictable aftermath of  wildfires in the Southwest, as there is nothing left to stop rainwater from roaring down mountainsides and filling arroyos.

Already this spring there have been wildfires reported in the western states. According to the National Interagency Fire Center<http://www.nifc.gov/>, more than 82,000 wildfires occurred across 10 million acres in the U.S. last year.
