Flexible Tablet and Smartphone ArcGIS Web Offline Editing AppsMay 30th, 2014 by Matt Sheehan
Just to advance the discussion on the work we have been doing with offline editing in the Web browser. We have extended the demo app shown in a previous post to be responsive. In other words to run well on all mobile devices: smartphones, tablets and smablets. The short video shows the same offline ArcGIS editing application running in a browser on a tablet and smartphone. ArcGIS Web Offline Editing
As we have mentioned before, given this is Web technology, the app will run across all mobile platforms (Apple, Android, Windows). It can be converted to an installed app using Phonegap again for each platform. Maybe the biggest advantage of this approach is the flexibility. The app can be customized and branded easily. As a web application it simply needs hosting on an organizations Web server. If you have multiple clients and wish to brand the app differently, simply host multiple versions of the web app and configure them each differently. Extending the functionality is also possible; custom configurable forms or attribute pop ups, ArcGIS server endpoints or ArcGIS Online Web maps and hosted services. This approach is extremely flexible. Contact us directly on 801-733-0723 if you have questions.
