GeoCity by Ars Electronica

GeoCity is a new way to visualize geospatial data and information with a presentation and information platform in a use friendly way. This futuristic, interactive and customizable solution is available as mobile application or as multi-user installation.

GeoCity is based on a Geographic Information System (GIS) of achosen area (country, region, city), that works with aerial photographs and maps as well as a number of different sets of data which are melted together into a graphic user interface. The data sets are statistical and demographical data, real time data (multimedia data from webcams, meteorological data, traffic data, public transportation data and so on), simulation data (time based statistical extrapolations) and computed data.

GeoCity has been conceived as a walk-through database that utilizes new means of communication to get across complex, interrelated information in an intuitive way. Whether it’s a book or a city map—everything morphs into an interactive surface. Analog and digital elements react to each other—pencil and paper unite with computer and projection.
