Penny Holland, Business Development Manager for Oce North America met with GISCafe’s Sanjay Gangal at Autodesk University 2011 in Las Vegas in December. She noted a much more positive response from attendees and exhibitors this year than in past recent years. Sanjay: Tell us about Oce. Penny: Oce is 135 year old Dutch company that has been in wide format business for many years. Most people we talk to have had previous generation products and are looking for their next machine and like to see the new technology we have. This is a good show for us, not only to show them new equipment but also to hear about what equipment they have. Sanjay: What machines do you have? Penny: We have three machines: two single footprint machines – an all in one printer copier scanner, monochrome machine and that is the Plotwave 300, and color machine called the Colorwave 300. Both of them are for smaller workgroup entry level machines, to be used as part of the design build process. Also the Colorwave 600 is more of a color production machine that can do everything from monochrome prints up to color plan sets, renderings and also final presentation sets. Sanjay: Tell us more about the machines. Penny: All machines are 36 inch wide machines and they would be good for doing the final designs anywhere within the design build process. Colorwave 600 is more of a production machine and will do higher volume bid sets, either in black and white or in color. At Autodesk more people are moving from printing in black and white to printing in color and need a higher volume machine to do that. We have a common booth with Canon this year, so we are carrying the full line of Canon plotters in addition to the Oce plotters, so we can show low volume printers and mid volume production machines. The Canon product is the smaller inkjet printer that will do everything from bid sets to high quality outputs for presentation and a multifunction system and are low to high volume machines. One other machine we didn’t bring with us is Oce TDS 750. We have so many repeat customers for this mid volume replacement for Oce TDS 600 which was out a number of years ago. People are wanting to upgrade to the next generation product. No matter what the volume we have a machine to accommodate. No matter where in the design build process you are, we have a printer to fit the application you need.
