During the week of August 18th-22nd, GISCafe Voice will run a special feature blog on the topic, “Online GIS Education Programs.”
If you wish to have your college or university included, please let me know, Susan Smith at susan.smith@ibsystems.com A questionnaire will be sent to all academic institutions who are offering Online GIS programs, so that we may thoroughly cover all opportunities available. Or, fill out our Online GIS Education Courses Questionnaire for GISCafe here. Online courses allow students to study at their own pace. Some institutions have quadrupled their enrollment with online courses, reaching an audience they never could have dreamed of before this opportunity arose. These courses are accessible to all students via email, phone, online discussion forums and chat space. Plus there is web conferencing that enables interaction with one another in real-time, using voice, text, and video. Students will be studying under faculty with many years of experience either in the field or classroom. I spoke to many of you at Esri UC, but I know there are many out there that I may have missed. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to be included in the August coverage.
