Bentley Systems’ Performance for 2011
Wednesday, March 14th, 2012Bentley Systems CEO Greg Bentley gave Bentley Systems’ second annual Corporate Update in a conference call last week.
“Bentley Systems’ revenue on an historical gap basis grew 10% to a record $523 million,” said Bentley. Asia was a major driver of this growth, increasing to comprise 19% of total revenue from 16% in 2010.
The software subscription business model accounts for 17% of revenues in 2011. The company’s resilient subscription revenues have enabled them to fully recover from the downturn faster than their competitors and software peers with less volatility and with greater visibility into this coming year.
The subscription business model also benefits the user organization that had invested in their future reuse of infrastructure information modeling through Bentley software. The relative lack of volatility in Bentley Systems’ revenues is good for the company’s stability and reliability and that is, along with subscription elimination of cost barriers for technology adoption and improvement, is good for user organizations.

In the municipality of Metepec, Mexico, a province with a population of 214,000, property ownership and taxes have not been the norm.
According to Marco Antonio Vazquez Nava, municipal treasurer, Cadastral and Geographic Information System for Metepec, the municipality’s revenue sharing status has decreased substantially during the last few years.
They needed software for property tax collection. Taxes represent between 4-6% GDP. “There is a huge difference in Latin America,” said Nava. “Property tax in the rest of South America is 4%, but 0% tax is collected in Mexico. The National Institute for Statistics for Mexico (NISM) research shows only 42% of municipalities register property to be taxed.”

Be Inspired 2011 Press Conference recap
Monday, November 7th, 2011At the Be Inspired Conference yesterday, Bentley Systems CEO Greg Bentley said that the company’s mission is “to improve quality of life in the world through infrastructure.”
The company Bentley has achieved its initial public rating and while in 2010 the company adjusted for exchange rates and acquisitions, they have regained revenue momentum from the downturn. Bentley made mention that Autodesk, their main competitor, is “ahead but not out of reach, we have sooner regained revenue than they have in 2010.”

Bentley announces new line-up of Bentley Map GIS products

Richard Zambuni, Bentley’s Global Marketing Director for Geospatial and Utilities, and Bob Mankowksi, Vice President Software Development for Bentley’s Civil and Geospatial products, held a teleconference Thursday, April 7 in which they announced the new line-up of desktop GIS products, three new Bentley Map v8i offerings.
Bentley aims to solve three problems with the new line-up.
First, 3D GIS – an infrastructure GIS needs to be able to support 3D geospatial workflows with ease – and because Bentley Map is built on MicroStation technology it is a GIS that is intrinsically 3D. For 3D cities GIS needs to be 3D as well.
Second, Bentley has built a more extensive and a better-documented API for application developers – and anyone can use the API without further permissions being necessary.
And third, Bentley has simplified the product line-up so users can execute geospatial workflows in their infrastructure projects by reducing the number of products available and enhancing the functionality in those products. Those products are:
Bentley Map PowerView
For the visualization and editing of 2D/3D geospatial information – this product replaces Bentley PowerMap Field
Bentley Map
For editing, analysis and management of 2D/3D geospatial information – replaces the Bentley Map V8i SS1 and Bentley PowerMap
Bentley Map Enterprise
An entirely new product for enterprise editing, analysis and management of 2D/3D geospatial information
