A just released Daratech study reported that sales of GIS/Geospatial software, services and data grew 10.3% to US$4.4 billion in 201o.
The forecast for the coming year is that GIS/Geospatial sales will grow more than 8.3% to almost US$5 billion, according to Daratech’s CEO Charles Foundyller. He attributes the growth to the popularity of Google Earth and consumer navigation systems such as TomTom, linking business and consumer data with geo-enabled apps. This will become the norm, he says.
