Panel Discussion with NGA Leadership

This panel discussion, entitled “A Conversation with NGA Leadership,” conducted Wednesday June 24th, at GEOINT 2015 had the flavor of an inside meeting, according to USGIF CEO Keith Masback, who joked that “we cleverly tricked about 1,500 people into coming to a staff meeting.”

Afternoon Plenary Session, Esri User Conference 2015: The Importance of Location

Decision making in GIS would not be possible without knowledge of location and with it, a sense of place and culture. The stories of the afternoon plenary session at Esri UC 2015 showcased real life examples of this reality, from fighting the Ebola epidemic to fighting crime in Baltimore.

Esri User Conference Morning Plenary Session Covers Geoenlightenment, Web GIS, Story Maps, ArcGIS Earth and Much More

With the theme, “Applying geography everywhere,” Jack Dangermond, president of Esri, definitely covered all the pertinent topics of the day. The Esri User Conference held annually in San Diego, kicked off Monday with approximately 16,000 in attendance, which could be amply felt in the halls and the morning plenary session.

Northrup Grumman Hosts Panel Discussion on New Technologies

Partnerships, unmanned spacecraft, technologies and sensors were some of the topics covered in a panel discussion and press luncheon held at GEOINT Symposium 2015 in Washington D.C. recently, by Northrup Grumman.

An E-2C test aircraft assigned to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 20 conducts an aerial refueling dry-plug engagement with an F/A-18.

GIS at Autodesk’s AEC Media Summit

Last week media trekked to Autodesk’s new Innovation and Design Building in the heart of Boston for the Autodesk AEC Media Summit. While the previous LEED Gold headquarters in Waltham, Mass. was a testament to the company’s commitment to sustainable design, the Innovation and Design Building speaks to their branching out in their innovative capacities.

In recent years, Emergency Response and Recovery has been tasked with addressing the growing number of natural disasters and manmade disasters worldwide. When a disaster happens, the role of GIS and geospatial is front and center in the identification of location and the location of individuals impacted in the event, as well as the clarification of the physical damage to vital structures. It is also fundamental to the provision of medical care and utilities during a time when those things may be scarce or non-existent.

What happens now: Google Enterprise products no longer supported by Google

What has been an un-announcement in the geospatial industry is the fact that Google Maps Engine and Google Earth Enterprise are to be discontinued by Google. It’s possible that Google didn’t send out a press release about this because their customers, who are mainly consumers, may mistake the message to mean that Google Maps and Google Earth will be discontinued by Google, which is absolutely not the case.
